Ganesh Rangoli Gallery 07-Sep
On the day before the Ganesh holidays the older children spent the afternoon drawing beautiful Rangoli designs for Ganesh. First the outline has to be drawn with chalk and then a hig degree of skill and patience is required as each section is painstakingly filled with coloured powder. The drawings then stayed in place for a while week before being swept away when the children returned on Thursday. We think they are all masterpieces but the photo here shows this year's winning design...... View Gallery

Congratulations Rebecca and Neil 22-Aug
We send our hearty congratulations to Rebecca Fernandes and Neil Kevan on the occasion of their wedding on 22nd August. Rebecca's parents are originally from Goa and recalled a tradition to provide the poorer people of the village with a meal on the day before a wedding. To uphold this tradition they kindly chose to sponsor a special meal, fruit, cake and biscuits for all of the Mango House children. The children were thrilled to be included in the event and thoroughly enjoyed their treat.
Thank you Ground Development Ltd 16-Aug
Our thanks go to Ground Developments Ltd for their recent donation of £1,000 towards our Mango House project. The team decided to get involved when they heard about all the fundraising one of their Site Managers Eddie and his wife, Yvonne, were doing to help Mango Tree. Not only did they make such a generous donation but they also secured lots of educational supplies which Eddie and Yvonne (seen above with Leonie from GDL) will take to Mango House. We look forward to seeing them and their “cargo” in January! Read more here.
A tribute to the Indian Flag 15-Aug
Today the pre-primary children at our Chimbel project celebrated Independence Day in their own special way. All were asked to attend wearing an orange, white or green top instead of their uniform. As you can see they proceeded to make their own unique tribute to the Indian Flag.
A Very Special Independence Day Visit 15-Aug
We had an amazing visit from a group of Harley Davidson enthusiasts on Independence Day. Around 25 bikers came along and gave the children the chance to get up close with their fabulous bikes. It was also an honour to proudly singe the National Anthem together. Not only were we given such an exciting morning but we were also thrilled to receive generous donations both from Tuskers Motorcycles and from the bikers too. See our photos here.
Happy Independence Day 15-Aug
Today we send our warm wishes to Indians all over the world on the occasion of the 67th Anniversary of Independence.
We had a lovely celebtration taking part in arts and craft activities which you can see here.
Happy Raksha Bandhani 10-Aug
A rakhi is an emblem of love and protection and signifies the sacred bonds between sisters and brothers. Here you can see some of the rhakis made on Friday by the girls at Mango House. Today, sisters all over India will tie their rhaki to their brother's wrist as a mark of love and honour and in return brothers will promise to protect them. We wish all those celebrating a Happy RakshaBandhan and hope brothers and sisters everywhere remember their special bond today.
Happy Friendship Day 03-Aug
Today India and many other countries celebrate Friendship Day. We just couldn't let the day pass without honouring all our Mango Tree friends. Without our friends we would be nowhere and we wish each and every one a Happy Day.
Celebrating Eid Al-Fitr 28-Jul
On 28th July Mango House celebrated the very important Muslim festival of Eid Al-Fitr. The festival marks the end of the holy month long fast of Ramadan and is a joyful day. The children at Mango House celebrated by partaking in special art activities and by applying special Eid Mahendi designs on hands and arms. Every child left with a packet of sticky rice - a typical Eid treat. You can see some photos here .
Eid Mubaraki 28-Jul
As the holy month long fast of Ramadan draws to a close we wish all those celebrating Eid al-Fitr a joyous and peaceful time.
